Tech-Priest Dominus Nu-Bohr

Short painting post this month as just one model was finished, though I did start assembling the Skitarii Vanguard, and the second Cybernatica Datasmith is almost done. The model that did get painted is a big, detailed one, too: the Tech-Priest Dominus. His designation is Nu-Bohr (named after Neils Bohr). The model was painted un-assembled so I could get at all the details.

Tech-Priest Dominus

For the robes, I used Mephiston red as an initial coat, and then two coats of Evil Sunz Scarlet. I painted this on first since it covers the largest area, and the exposed parts are (generally) physically raised above the robes, so it was easier to avoid the robes when they were painted later. I then painted the armor plates, legs, and recessed pipes in the robes with Leadbelcher. I painted the trim on the robes with two coats of Ushabti Bone.

Brass Scorpion was used to pick out the trim on the armor plates, and some small details on the Dominus' weapons and hoses. It was also used for the frames of tanks of liquid on his back.

Ushabti Bone was also used for the servo-skull on his back. I used Iyanden Darksun to paint the yellow cables here and there, and then painted Abaddon Black on top of that. Abaddon Black was used to cover the entire cog and skull motif on the Dominus' axe and power plant, and then half painted over with White Scar.

The glowing blue was achieved by first painting on a base of Caledor Sky, then with a thinner brush painting Lothern Blue, and finally highlighting with White Scar. The only bare patch of skin on the whole model, the right hand, was painted with Rakarth Flesh. I used a wash of Reikland Fleshshade on the skin, Agrax Earthshade on all the brass, red, and bone, and Nuln Oil on all the Leadbelcher. I also used Nuln Oil carefully and sparingly on the white side of the skull and cog motif to darken the sockets and spaces between the teeth.

Finally, I used a layer of Warpstone Green, then Warboss Green, and then a thinned-down layer of Warpstone Green again to do the liquid in the tanks on the Dominus' back.

And that's it! Only the highlighting stage left, which will wait until I have everything at least washed to make sure that everything is painted by the time of the tournament at the end of July. Speaking of which, information on OFCC 2017 is here: http://www.ordofanaticus.com/index.php?/forum/43-ordo-fanaticus-club-challenge-ofcc-july-28th-30th-2017/.

Next month I hope to have at least some of the Skitarii done as well as an extra special detail added to already painted models!
